Cracked heels or heel fissures are common in all ages, lack of attention and lack of moisture is the major reason for cracked heels. The other reasons may be standing for long hours, improper foot wear, weather condition, using harsh soaps, overweight, diabetes, or continuous exposure to water. Cracked heel symptoms are may be peeling skin, red or flaky patches, bleeding from the cracks, itchiness and pain.
Lemon is good to treat cracked heels. Lemon contains acidic elements that soften hard skin. The citric acid in lemon juice kills bacteria that cause cracked heels and also effectively removes dead skin cells.
Glycerine contains moisturizing and humectants properties in it and thus works as a great remedy to get rid of heel fissures. Applying glycerine on heel fissures can improve the healing process, and softens the skin. Regular application of glycerine turns out to be a great treatment for painful heels.
Carom seeds or ajwain is good to maintain soft feet. Regular intake of carom seeds keeps the feet soft. Applying carom seed juice helps remove dead skin cells and maintains soft feet.
Mustard oil is one simple home remedy for cracked heels. Mixing lemon juice, ajwain juice and glycerine and mustard oil works very effective against heel fissures.
Take 2 teaspoons of mustard oil and carom seed juice, 1 teaspoon of lemon juice and glycerine, mix all the ingredients well. Apply regularly before bed to cure heel fissures and to maintain soft feet.
Diabetes and obesity are the two risk factors of heel fissures. More weight on the heel pad can further cracks on the heels.
To prevent heel fissures, drink plenty of water, avoid hot water showers, soak your feet in warm water for some time and remove dead skin cells regulary, maintain healthy weight, and wear comfortable foot wear.
- 2 teaspoons Mustard oil
- 1 teaspoon Glycerine
- 1 teaspoon Lemon juice
- 2 teasppons Ajwain
- Water (as required)
- Use mustard oil, ajwain,lemon, glycerine and water.
- Add two teaspoons of ajwain to water.
- Soak ajwain overnight in water.
- Add soaked ajwain along with water to blender.
- Blend well to get the juice.
- Strain the juice.
- Add one teaspoon of mustard oil to a bowl.
- Add one teaspoon of glycerine.
- Squeeze lemon and add one teaspoon lemon juice.
- Add two teaspoons of ajwain juice.
- Mix it well.
