How to lose weight with horse gram (Kollu) soup – DIY

Horse gram soup is a very effective home remedy for reducing weight. Horse gram (known s Kollu in Tamil) directly works against fatty tissues and helps to melt extra fat from the body. Horse gram not only helps in weight loss, but also helps in reducing excess cholesterol.  It produces heat in the body that burns fat efficiently without any side effects.

Horse gram is rich in vitamins, proteins, iron, B-complex and dietary fibre. It cures irregular periods, arthritis, helps balance sugar level, and blood pressure levels.

  1. To make the soup, use horse gram, cumin seeds, black pepper, garlic pods, turmeric powder, salt, pepper powder, coriander leaves and curry leaves. Coriander leaves and curry leaves are primarily used for enhancing taste and are hence optional.

  2. Take half a cup of horse gram (kollu).

  3. Add water to soak dal.

  4. Soak dal overnight or for 8 to 10 hours.

  6. Chop tomato into small pieces.

  7. Peel and cut garlic pods.

  8. Chop coriander and curry leaves.

  9. Add black peppercorns to a mortar.

  10. Crush the pepper with a pestle (you can also use pepper powder instead).

  11. Add water to pan.

  12. Add soaked horse gram (kollu).

  13. Add chopped tomatoes.

  14. Add chopped garlic pods.

  15. Add 1/2 teaspoon crushed pepper.

  16. Add 1/2 teaspoon cumin seeds.

  17. Add 1/4 teaspoon turmeric powder.

  18. Add 1/2 teaspoon salt.

  19. Boil all the ingredients together for 30 minutes on a medium flame.

  20. Once boiled, switch off. Allow it to become warm. Now add the mixture to a blender.
