Scabies and rash due to the condition is a very uncomfortable skin condition commonly seen in children and young adults. It is caused manly due to a mite infestation. Itching is the first symptom of scabies and it causes rashes, blisters, small red bumps and redness on the skin. Neem is a medicinal plant and has been used to treat various ailments since ancient times. Our grandmother’s use to tell us to consume a glass of neem juice on an empty stomach for overall good health. Drinking neem juice is good for healthy, glowing skin.
To treat scabies, take the bark of neem tree and 1/4 teaspoon of turmeric powder. Boil both in water for few minutes. Allow to cool down and wash the scabies affected area with this water. Neem contains anti-inflammatory, analgesic, anti-fungal, ant-bacterial properties in it. So the neem water not only deals with the scabies mites, it also soothes the skin, relieves the itching, numbs the pain, reduces inflammation and redness and also heals minor infections that might have occurred because of scratching and open lesions.
This neem water wash does not directly kill the scabies mites, but rather it interferes with mites reproduction and thereby completely wipes off the mites population over time. Daily application of neem bark water wash on the affected area can definitely treat scabies and softens cracked skin.
Turmeric powder is one of the best remedies to treat skin diseases. Turmeric also contains anti-fungal and anti-bacterial properties like neem. Curcumin, the antioxidant present in this spice helps to reduce inflammation. Regular consumption of neem and turmeric mixed with water prevents relapse of scabies. So both neem and turmeric are considered reliable remedies for scabies.
