Soak dry turmeric in little water for a few minutes. This is to make the outer layer of turmeric softer and easier to grind. Although you can use fresh turmeric for this scrub, I prefer dry turmeric for its slightly coarse texture.
Slowly grind the turmeric in a circular motion on the stone. The rough stone makes grinding easy. You can add a few drops of water every now and then while grinding.
You will need about half a teaspoon of turmeric for this scrub. Although turmeric is an excellent skin care agent, too much turmeric may make your skin yellowish. So always use he right amount.
Gather the turmeric paste with your fingers. Wipe off every bit of turmeric from the stone. Let us not waste yellow gold!
Keep the gathered paste in a plate along with the other ingredients to make mixing easier.
Now mix turmeric, green gram flour and rice flour together into a smooth paste. Green gram flour is an anti-aging agent. It also removes acne spots, blemishes and sun tan.
Tip: You can use green gram flour face mask for acne control.
Rice flour is a little coarse and is hence a good exfoliating ingredient.
A scrub should not be too watery or too thick. So slowly add water and mix till you achieve the desired consistency. You can also add rose water instead of water.
This scrub is simple to make and can be used on a daily basis.
Those of you who do not have the time to grind dry turmeric can use organic turmeric powder instead. I prefer dry turmeric since I trust its purity more and it also has a better texture for scrub.
Directions for using the turmeric face scrub:
Wash your face with water.
Gently apply this scrub in a circular motion for a few minutes.
Wash off with warm water.
