You can make star anise oil in 3 ways –
- An essential oil made using steam distillation that can be procured from authentic stores.
- Through hot infusion – This essentially means that, Star anise spice is ground and added to boiling oil. This oil has to be the non-fragrant kind. Allow the spice to boil along with the oil and after a few minutes, switch off, allow it to cool down and then strain to get the clear oil.
- Through cold infusion – This is the last method and is simpler as well. You grind star anise, add it to an oil of your choice and allow it to soak in the oil for a few days. After a week or so, the oil is fragrant with the scent of star anise and is good to use.

- 5-10 pods Star anise Also known as Chakra phool
- 200 ml Almond oil
- Use Chinese star anise pods and almond oil to make this infused oil.
- Take start anise pods in a mortar.
- Crush them well using a pestle. This is to bring out the fragrance and release the oils from anise seeds.
- Here are the crushed anise pods.
- Now put the crushed pods in a dark glass bottle.
- Pour almond oil into the bottle.
- Close the bottle and allow the anise pods to get infused in the oil for at least 4 to 5 days. And your oil would be ready for use!
